With 6 million active members in France, it would be stupid not to exploit the mine of professional contacts that is Linkedin.
Block yourself a morning to refine your Linkedin profile and thus attract the attention of recruiters.
1. Choose a neat profile photo
A profile with a photo is 7 times more consulted than a profile without an image. The photo must be professional, centered on the face.
2. Customize your profile url
Customize your url so that it is easily memorable and identifiable. You will also be better referenced in Google. If you are a webmaster, graphic designer, developer, etc., do not hesitate to associate your name and your position in the Linkedin url. Example: linkedin.com/in/graphistejuliebenier
To do this, go to Profile, then Edit profile.
3. Avoid pollution for your contacts
Don't flood your contacts with unnecessary updates! By default, they are kept informed of your activity (profile updates, recommendations, subscription to a company page, etc.). To change this option, go to Preferences and confidentiality, then Profile, and Confidentiality control: deactivate activity broadcasts.
4. Write in terms of keywords
Each position or field of activity has a specific lexicon. Write your personal presentation and detail your professional experiences in terms of keywords.
5. More visuals
Do you have several professional projects under your belt? Illustrate them! It will be more eye-catching and meaningful for the visitor!
6. Bring your skills in line with your professional project
Focus on the skills relevant to your professional goal. No need to have a recommendation on Powerpoint from a schoolmate when you are looking for a web developer position.
7. Ask for recommendations
Nothing better than to value your past experience by the collaborators for whom you worked. Contact them in a private message to request their help, either by recommending you on the skills of your profile, or by writing a review on your professional collaboration.
And conversely, take the time to maintain your Linkedin network. Help your relationships, share information, make recommendations. An active network is a useful network!
8. Personalize your messages
No more connection requests with the default message from Linkedin! Personalize your invitation in order to maintain a privileged relationship with your contact.
9. Join relevant groups
Join groups in accordance with your professional project and your areas of interest. This will allow you to share information with your network and keep your watch. It is above all an opportunity to connect with other people.
10. Post your Linkedin profile
You have a professional card or an online CV site, add your Linkedin url to it. In the same way, put it in signature of your mails. You will gain visibility.
